University of Iowa Residency: Extensive training and experience in breast imaging About Dr. Hanson started his medical career as one of the first fellowship-trained interventional radiologists in the Seattle area. As an interventional radiologist his mission was to provide diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients using minimally invasive image-guided techniques.
In the late s, Dr. Hanson became interested in applying his skills as an interventional radiologist to the diagnosis of breast cancer, which had traditionally been done with open surgical biopsies. As a result, he was one of the first radiologists in the country to perform ultrasound- and stereotactic-guided needle biopsies of the breast.
Inhe was instrumental in starting the Seattle Breast Center SBCthe first comprehensive breast imaging center of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. Among other things, the SBC became a regional leader in the use of image-guided needle biopsies, using ultrasound, stereotaxis and MRI guidance.
Over the ensuing years, Dr. Hanson trained many other radiologists to perform these procedures, which have become the standard of care for diagnosing breast cancers. With his pioneering spirit and passion for reducing breast cancer mortality, Dr.
Early detection through screening is a key component in this fight, but one size does not fit all.
We need to focus our efforts on providing the best modern day imaging technology available, at a reasonable cost, and using an individualized, risk-based strategy. That is why Via Radiology decided to make screening MRI as affordable as possible with our new abbreviated protocol.
Hanson enjoys playing the piano and composing music, cycling, traveling, reading and simply being with family and friends.Radiologic nurses are Registered Nurses who complete special training in treating patients who are undergoing medical imaging procedures, most commonly radiology.
Radiologists are licensed medical doctors who are experts in interpreting digital imagery, and like all medical doctors must undergo four years of medical school, a year-long. Radiology is the science that uses medical imaging to diagnose and sometimes also treat diseases within the body.
A variety of imaging techniques such as X-ray radiography, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), nuclear medicine including positron emission tomography (PET), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are used to diagnose . Essay about Radiology: Medical Imaging and Extensive Training Radiologists When I am completely finished with school, I hope to be a Radiologist.

Due to the extensive training radiologists traditionally receive in medical image interpretation, radiologists now also direct other imaging technologies (such as ultrasound, computed tomography (CT or Cat-Scan) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)) to diagnose or treat diseases. Our sonologists are recognized experts and provide instruction to radiology and Ob/Gyn residents, medical students and sonographers.
Our physicians also participate in training of the Body Imaging and Women's Imaging fellows.
